Taste Test
It’s easy to overlook Bella’s with hot spots like Copper Canyon and Bobo’s 33 just down the block, but don't be fooled by this quaint restaurant’s somewhat bland décor; the food is anything but. The fish and seafood are very fresh and the French-fusion cuisine, including the delectable frisee lardon salad, hints at the chef’s classic training. Bella’s has a cozy full bar and reasonable wine list including a nice selection by-the-glass and desserts are home-made; try the playful pan-fried pound cake with marshmallow fluff and Nutella. Service is incredibly friendly and accommodating, as is the user-friendly menu that allows diners to pair entrees with any two sides of their choosing (for those who don’t like to make extra decisions, the chef’s recommendations are noted). Dishes are reasonably priced and the dining room is rarely too full or too loud. The weekend brunch (opening on Saturdays shortly) is also a bargain including an entrée, cocktail and coffee for $11.95. This place is a real find.
