Taste Test
This place has become a new addition to our regular repertoire since opening its doors this summer (2006). The restaurant is strikingly gorgeous with a classic bistro menu reminiscent of some of our favorite NYC and Paris restaurants (e.g., Pastis) and patio dining and ocean views that can't be beat. Another bonus to dining at Avenue is easy access to Le Club, the hot Miami style indoor/outdoor poolside nightclub located on the rooftop. Unfortunately, this place misses the mark on a couple of key factors - hit or miss service (the hostesses especially miss) and unreasonably high prices on certain menu items (e.g., oysters for $4.50 a pop and steak frite for $37). Reservations are a must at peak times. Avenue is not perfect but we are grateful to now have a place like this on the Jersey Shore.
